According to the Oregon State Police, a delivery driver was killed when a deer crashed through the vehicle’s windshield.

OSP Lieutenant Lang Hinkle reports that at approximately 8:57 a.m. on Tuesday, a 2000 Ford Focus was traveling eastbound on Highway 126 near Eugene, Oregon, when it struck a deer that was in the roadway.

The force of the impact caused the deer to go airborne and  into the path of a westbound 2000 Freightliner driven by Jesse Bastien, 37.

The deer crashed through the Freightliner’s windshield and struck Bastien.

Though critically injured, Bastien managed to pull his vehicle onto the shoulder of the road.

A passing motorist stopped to assist and noticed that Bastien was not breathing and performed CPR.

Bastien was transported to an area hospital for neck and head trauma. Sadly, Bastien succumbed to his injures.
