Driver Cited After Spilling 48,000 Pounds Of Bottled Water

Published:

A driver has been cited after overturning a truck loaded with 48,000 pounds of bottled water on I-95 South in York, Maine early this morning.

The truck driver Francisco Reyes-Rodriquez told police that he believed that a mechanical issue caused his vehicle to swerve from the middle lane into the center guardrail and overturn. However, investigators could find no evidence of any mechanical problems with the truck. They did discover several log book violations and reported that the crash was likely due to driver fatigue.

Reyes-Rodriquez only suffered minor injuries. The passenger in his sleeper was not hurt.

Clean up of the bottled water and overturned truck closed down two lanes for several hours. The crash was cleared by 1 p.m., but traffic was still backed up.
