Driver Unknowingly Hauls $677K In Drugs

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a driver unknowing hauled $677,000 in cocaine.

On Thursday, Texas DPS conducted a CMV inspection on IH-40, near Vega in Oldham County. During the inspection, they uncovered 11 pounds of cocaine, valued at over $677,000, stashed inside one of the two vehicles that were being transported on a flatbed.

The Texas DPS Criminal Investigations Division (CID) was called to assist the trooper in the investigation.

The agents interviewed the driver and determined he was unaware of the drug’s existence in the vehicle.

Texas DPS states the load was being hauled from Phoenix to Ferndale, Michigan.

“CID special agents, with assistance from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), conducted a follow up investigation that led to the arrest of five people in Michigan. Agents also seized two weapons and a large amount of currency,” the Texas DPS press release states.
