Construction season is coming up fast, meaning delays are coming for drivers on I-65 south of Indianapolis. Crews will start in mid-March on a project to add more lanes. Authorities report that 3 lanes will be closed at a time in some areas, which will spell tough delays during rush hour.
The project is starting on Southport Road and will extend to Main Street, a three and a half mile stretch. Crews will have to shut down both the northbound and southbound lanes at various points during the project, meaning traffic will need to be diverted into the other lane.
The $35 million project is scheduled to finish by next July. INDOT hopes to have all lanes back open by November.
