FMCSA Releases New Recommendations For Reviewing Driving Records

new regulations

The FMCSA has released new recommendations to change the way that trucking companies review driving records for their employees.

Digital State-Operated Digital Driving Records

All trucking companies are currently required to review their employees driving records every year. The new guidelines will allow trucking companies to use state-operated employer notification systems (ENS) to perform the annual driving records check. The state-operated ENS is used to track a driver’s license status, crash history and record of convictions and regulations.

Reduced Need For Paper Records

Motor carriers would have access to DMV records from every state in which a driver has held a commercial motor vehicle operator’s license or permit. This eliminates the need for trucking companies to keep paper records of driving records.
