Study: Sugar-Sweetened Drinks Hurt Your Heart

Published:

A new study from Harvard gives truck drivers a new reason to avoid sugary sodas and energy drinks — they are a major threat to your heart health.

The study found that sugar in soda, sweet tea, and energy drinks increase your risk of heart attack, heart disease, and stroke.

One of the most surprising things that the study uncovered is that it doesn’t take many sugary drinks to significantly increase your heart disease risk. Just drinking one to two sugary beverages per day is linked to:

–35% increased risk of heart attack

–16% increased stroke risk

–26% increased risk of Type 2 Diabetes

So while cutting out soda and other sugary drinks isn’t the only path to better health, choosing water and other unsweetened beverages is an easy swap that can make a big difference in your overall health.
