Homicide Suspected After Missing Trucker’s Body Found In Box

Published:

After the body of a missing Wisconsin truck driver was found in a box alongside a rural road in Kentucky, law enforcement agents from five states are trying to determine how he got there.

Trucker Missing Since Thanksgiving

Truck driver Doug Bailey, 51, of Prescott, Wisconsin, has been reported missing since Thanksgiving when his sister alerted authorities after he failed to show up for the holiday dinner.

His disappearance was featured on the Missing Truck Driver Alert Network as his friends, family, and coworkers tried to discover his location. From interviews with coworkers and family members, as well as social medica law enforcement learned of Bailey’s apparent wish get away and go “down south”.

Driver’s Girlfriend Says He Wanted To Be Left On Side Of Road

Prescott Police Chief Gary Krutke says Bailey’s live-in girlfriend Rose Marie Kuehni claimed that the two were traveling west on I-74 close to Peoria days before the Thanksgiving holiday. She told police that Bailey told her “Leave me here and don’t come back for me.” Kuehni said that she pulled the truck to the side of the road and Bailey got out and she drove away.

Body Discovered in Large Boxes Down Rural Ravine

Illinois police felt the story was suspicious and continued investigating, which led them to the discovery of Bailey’s body inside one of two large boxes down a ravine near a rural road in Bell County, Kentucky.

After further investigation, police allege that Bailey was murdered in Prescott and his body was transported to Kentucky.

Girlfriend Faces Charges, Another Man Has Been Questioned

Kuehni, who works as an instructor for the University of Minnesota, is being held on possible charges of second-degree intentional homicide and hiding a corpse.

Another person, 60-year-old Clarence M. Hicks, was stopped and questioned about the homicide.

No official charges have been filed yet.
