The Fred Schwengel Memorial Bridge that carries I-80 over the Mississippi River will close for repairs starting on Friday, March 27th, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.
Officials report that the westbound lanes will be closed at 8 p.m. on March 27th and will reopen on March 31st. The eastbound lanes will close from 8 p.m. on April 10 through April 14th, if all goes according to plan.
Crews will be working to replace two expansion joints during the shutdown.
Traffic will be detoured to Interstate 280 during the I-80 closure.
