“Nope, not joking,” said Scottish officials on Twitter as they announced that the morning’s traffic congestion on M74 was caused by a collie that somehow took control of a John Deere tractor and maneuvered it onto M74 yesterday (April 21).
Farmer Tom Hamilton says that he jumped out of the tractor to help a lamb and forgot to use the brake. The collie leaned against the controls of the tractor, sending it across the field, through a fence, and onto the highway.
Dan the dog was not hurt during the incident.
Traffic Scotland called the incident, “has to be the weirdest thing we have ever reported”.
The incident sparked a flurry of terrible bad puns on Twitter.
