Snow Plow Driver Attacked

A Springfield, Massachusetts snow plow driver ran into a sketchy situation this past week as he was clearing the streets at the height of the recent snowstorm.

The driver found himself surrounded by 25 angry citizens who began blocking the street, hurling snowballs, and ice chunks – eventually smashing his windshield.

According to the City public works Director, Chris Cignoli – some of the citizens were also swinging snow shovels at the driver.

The residents of Mason Square were apparently angry that the driver (who was working for a private contractor) was blocking some vehicles and driveways with snow.

Police were called in to the scene to escort the driver as he finished the job. There were no injuries and no arrests were made.

According to Cignoli, if any more snow plow drivers in the area are harassed – they will stop plowing those neighborhoods.

“What these people were doing is because they were in the street and we would plow, which means we were putting a pile of snow like this right to the car. They were upset with that. If there’s a car, we just go right around it and come right back in, so it’s going to get into the driveway.” – Cignoli
