Published:

A milk tanker truck driver choked on a sip of Dr. Pepper on Sunday in Hermitage, Pennsylvania, causing him to crash into 23 new cars at an auto dealership.

Milk Tanker Smashes into 23 Vehicles

58-year-old Indiana based truck driver Thomas Young was driving on North Hermitage Road when a sip of soda went down the wrong pipe, causing him to cough so hard that he couldn’t see. Police say that the Neimeyer Milk Transfer tanker veered into the southbound lanes, then left the road, jumping a curb, hitting a utility pole and a tree before driving nearly 600 feet through grassy embankment before crashing into the Montrose Buick-GMC-Cadillac dealership.

The tanker crashed into 23 new cars. One of the cars was pushed into the dealership showroom by the crash.

No Mechanical Issues Found After Crash

Police found no mechanical issues and say that Young did not attempt to brake. Young was cited for careless driving.

No one was injured during the crash, thanks in part to the fact that the dealership was closed on Sunday.
