New Jersey Port Authority To ‘Vigorously Enforce’ Trucks Lining Up

Bomb Squad Responds To Truck Parked Illegally Outside O'Hare

In an effort to help ease traffic congestion on the New Jersey Turnpike Extension, the Port Authority announced they’ll be cracking down on trucks that line up at the Global Marine Terminal port facility before the facility opens.

According to the Port Authority, trucks begin arriving at the facility before 5:30 a.m., causing long lines and tremendous traffic backups.

Barricades are being set up to prevent trucks from lining up, and the Authority said they’ll be issuing tickets to trucks that line up before the facility opens.

The increase in truck traffic comes a result of ongoing strife at the west coast ports and construction on the Bayonne Bridge.

The Port Authority said they’ve notified carriers of the issue.

In addition, the port is extending its hours to help ease the morning rush.
