New York To Yank Licenses From Chronic Toll Evaders

Published:

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo says that he plans to crack down on drivers who regularly evade tolls by suspending their licenses.

In an announcement today, Cuomo said that the Department of Motor Vehicles will suspend the license of any driver who fails to pay 5 tolls in 18 months, starting in January of 2016.

The license suspension will affect around 35,000 New York drivers — who cost the state of New York $16 million every year.

Cuomo says the move is intended to help hard working drivers who pay the tolls from being unfairly burdened by the toll evaders.
