Pennsylvania Town To Ban Truck Parking On City Streets

Reading Truck Parking Ban

Officials in Reading, Pennsylvania are expected to vote to ban truck parking on city streets within the next two weeks.

Since August, residents of Reading have been complaining about truck drivers leaving their rigs parked on city streets — often for days at a time. Residents say that the heaviest area of truck parking is at 3rd and Spruce around a playground. City council president Jeff Waltman said that something needs to change: “3rd and Spruce, the playground has been surrounded by trucks at times, and it’s just gotten out of hand. It’s taken us to the point where we’re going to have to change the law.

Residents say that trucks parked along the street create a dangerous situation by obscuring their vision, making it dangerous to cross intersections.

The city council is expected to vote on the ordinance to ban extended truck parking within the next two weeks.
