Louisiana State Police say that they have arrested a person in connection with the hit and run crash that sent a truck driver plummeting into the Pearl River near Slidell, killing him.
The accident occurred when a pickup truck driver tried to pass an 18 wheeler on the shoulder of I-10 and then ran out of road. The pickup swerved into the 18 wheeler, which swerved into another truck and sent one of the trucks through a guardrail into the river below.
Police have not yet released the name of the person arrested or any details.
Crews are currently working to remove the 18 wheeler which was hauling 45,000 pounds of paper products from the river.
