Police Ticket Over 900 Truckers In 5 Days On I-94

Michigan State Police, Indiana State Police, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol say that they ticketed over 900 truck drivers on I-94 during an enforcement blitz designed to reduce crashes involving commercial vehicles.

The enforcement blitz, referred to as “Eyes on 94” took place from December 7 through December 11. It focuses on truck driver behaviors most likely to cause a crash, like speeding, following too closely, and distracted driving.

Here is a breakdown of the results of the Eyes on 94 campaign.

• The most common violation was speeding.
• 921 citations were issued during the campaign.
• 455 citations and 455 warnings were issued in Michigan.
• 471 citations and 1,618 warnings were issued in Indiana and Ohio combined.
• Michigan police conducted 542 commercial vehicle inspections.
• 200 educational DVDs about safe driving practices near commercial vehicles were given for free to motorists at rest areas.
