San Francisco Releases Required Safety Video For City Truckers

Published:

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency has recently released a video to help train truck drivers on safe urban driving practices — and for many truckers, it will be required viewing.

Specifically, the video is designed to help truck drivers deal with bike riders and pedestrians who may be unpredictable or even unsafe around large vehicles. The video gives drivers tips like “Watch for distracted or unsafe behavior” and “Check for people before you turn.” The video mentions the increased responsibility that professional truck drivers carry for making sure the streets are safe for bike riders and pedestrians.

According to the video description, “contractors with the SFMTA will be required to have any of their large vehicle drivers who drive in San Francisco either view the training video, or be trained in a manner that meets the training standards posted www.sfmta.com/largevehicles.”
