After months of investigating semi truck thefts in the area, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and Ocala Police Department, along with assistance from the Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit, used helicopter cameras to capture suspect Jeffrey Dowdy entering a semi truck, stealing a CB radio, tool kit, and a guitar. Cameras then follow Dowdy in his attempt to sell the stolen items to another truck driver. Ground units then capture Dowdy’s arrest.

Dowdy confessed to the burglary and said that he was trying to feed a $300-$500 per day heroin habit. He is now facing charges of burglary of an unoccupied dwelling, grand theft less than 5K and dealing in stolen property
