Striking Port Truck Drivers Head Back To Work

Published:

After a four-day strike, port truck drivers in Otay Mesa have returned to work.

The firms that the picketers targeted during the driver’s strike were Intermodal Bridge Transport, Pacer Cartage, Pacific 9 Transportation, Harbor Rail Transport.

The reason for ending the strike is not immediately clear, but statements from the striking drivers seem to indicate that they feel that their efforts were a success. Intermodal Bridge Transport driver Hector Flores stated, “now we have earned the respect of the marine terminal operators and the world. We won’t back down until the boss respects us as well.”

Earlier this week, drivers picketed trucks hauling Toyota cargo, which had a significant impact on company operations.

Teamsters vice president Fred Potter said that until companies respect the law and properly classify drivers, they should expect larger and more frequent strikes.
