A Minnesota man who has been placed on the “No Fly” list by Homeland Security has been awarded a Class A CDL.
Amir Meshal was granted his CDL from the South St. Paul Truck Driving School on August 8. He was able to pay the $4,000 tuition through the state’s workforce program.
Meshal has also applied for a school bus endorsement, but this is still pending a background check.
The FBI interrogated Meshal for four months in East Africa as a suspected al Queda operative. He was never charged and has since sued many of the FBI agents that interrogated him, along with the U.S. Government. The ACLU has sued the TSA and Homeland Security to have Meshal removed from the “No Fly” list.
Since then, he has been removed from two Minnesota mosques on suspicion of radicalizing young people.
A letter from Homeland Security regarding Meshal described him as an individual “who represents a threat of engaging in or conducting a violent act of terrorism and who is operationally capable of doing so.”
