Tennessee Highway Patrol To Target Drivers Who Don’t Wear Seat Belts

This holiday season, the Tennessee Highway Patrol will begin a special enforcement campaign to target drivers who do not wear seat belts.

The enhanced enforcement campaign will begin at 12:01 on December 24th and will conclude at midnight on December 27.

In addition to handing out tickets for seat belt violations, the Tennessee Highway Patrol will also be focusing on catching speeding drivers, distracted drivers, and impaired drivers in an effort to make the highways safer.

Troopers have already written 107,000 citations for seat belt violations just this year — a 255% increase from 2010.

In addition to the holiday enforcement campaign, the fine for driving without a seat belt will more than double starting in 2016.
