Tom Selleck Accused Of Using Truck To Steal Water From Fire Hydrant

Tom Selleck

In the midst of a severe drought in California, Tom Selleck is being sued after reportedly using a commercial water tanker to steal at least 12 tank loads of water from a public fire hydrant.

A complaint filed by the Calleguas Municipal Water District alleges that Selleck used a commercially registered white water tanker truck multiple times during 2013 and 2015 to steal water from a public hydrant in a construction site to supply water for his 60-acre avocado farm, which is in another water district.

The Calleguas Municipal Water District went as far as to hire a private investigator to track down the truck and link it to the 70-year-old actor — a move which they say cost them over $20,000.

Selleck is being sued for around $22,000 to cover the costs of the private investigator. California authorities say that the suit is a civil matter, not a criminal case.

There is no word on whether the truck driver transporting the water for Selleck will face charges.
