Authorities Searching For Trucker Indicted On 6 Counts Of Vehicular Manslaughter

Published:

Authorities are looking for the trucker responsible for a crash that killed 6 people –including two children– in Tennessee.

On June 25, 2015, truck driver Benjamin Brewer, 39, plowed into eight cars on I-75 in Chattanooga. Six people were killed in the crash.

A grand jury has accused Brewer of vehicular homicide, 4 counts of aggravated assault, driving under the influence of narcotics and speeding.

According to an NTSB investigation, Brewer had been on duty for approximately 50 hours in the three days leading up to the crash. The FMCSA states Brewer tested positive for methamphetamine six weeks prior to the crash.

Brewer’s address is listed in London, Kentucky, however, the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office believes Brewer is no longer at that residence.

At this time, authorities say it’s unclear whether Brewer is unaware of the outstanding indictment warrant or if he’s trying to evade the police. Authorities have been in contact with Brewer’s family and have notified them of the outstanding warrant.
