Police say that a truck driver fired a 9-millimeter handgun into the cab of another truck in what they are calling a road rage incident.
Truck Driver Opened Fire on Another Driver
The incident occurred around 9 p.m on December 8 near the Tipp City exit on I-75 in Ohio. Police say that they received a 911 call from a Michigan-based truck driver who said he was being harassed by another truck driver. According to reports, 51-year-old Kentucky driver Harold Baker fired a shot into the cab of the other truck driver at some time during the incident. When police arrived on the scene, the Michigan driver had pulled over on the shoulder of the interstate, while Baker stopped his truck about 100 feet in front of the other truck driver.
The Michigan truck driver was not hurt. The bullet came to rest in the chassis of his truck.
Police have not said what sparked the argument.
Truck Driver Faces State and Possibly Federal Charges
Both drivers were initially taken into custody. Baker was charged with felonious assault and improper use of a firearm, but he could also face federal charges because of interstate transportation laws.
Baker is still being held in the Miami County jail.
The incident is still under investigation.
