Trucker Is The Latest Victim In String Of Rest Stop Robberies

Published:

After a truck driver was robbed at a rest area on I-71 in Delaware County, Ohio, last Thursday, investigators suspect that the crime might be related to a string of similar robberies that have taken place in the area.

Memphis-based truck driver David Warren says that a group of men surrounded him and demanded money at knifepoint. As the men escaped, they brushed Warren with their car. He was left with minor injuries from the incident. Warren says that the robbers took around $1200 from him.

The Ohio State Patrol believe that the robbery is connected to the string of 8 to 10 similar robberies that have occurred at rest areas in Madison, Knox and Delaware Counties. Troopers ask that anyone using the rest area stay vigilant. Troopers also say that they will focus on increasing enforcement at the rest areas that have been targeted.

If you believe yourself to be in danger, dial 911. You can also dial #677 to be connected directly to the nearest Highway Patrol post.
