UPDATE 2:20 p.m.: Authorities have issued a summons for 71-year-old truck driver David Walter on charges of leaving the scene of an accident.
Police are searching for the driver of a truck that made an illegal U-Turn on Calumet Bridge, causing an accident at 6:45 a.m. before leaving the scene in Augusta, Maine this morning.
According to a report from Augusta police, the truck with no trailer had been traveling south on Riverside Drive when it “turned right onto the third bridge going West. The semi-truck then made an illegal U-turn at the end of the median strip from the far right lane, left to East back toward Riverside Drive.”
The illegal turn caused a red Buick to swerve and a black pickup crashed into it. The truck driver left the scene without speaking to anyone or exchanging information.
Police are looking for a truck that is bright royal blue with chrome. Witnesses say the truck was very clean and shiny.
Anyone with information on the crash is encouraged to contact the Augusta Police Department at 626-2370 and ask for Officer Matt Estes’
