Truck Driver Charged With Aggravated Assault After Allegedly Hitting Car 8 Times

Truck driver Matthew Cunningham is facing aggravated assault charges after he reportedly hit a woman 8 times within the stretch of a mile on I-40 in Davidson County, Tennessee.

Motorist Deborah Alston says shortly after she changed lanes, she felt a tanker truck tap her from behind. She thought that it must have been an accident, but she reports that the driver hit her seven more times.

Alston went to the hospital with minor injuries and her vehicle was damaged during the incident. She says that the emotional toll of the incident was worse than the physical.

Cunningham works for Tri Star Transport and was allegedly hauling an empty tanker on his way to work.

Cunningham is out of jail on a $10,000 bond. Alston has not yet decided whether she will sue.
