Truck Driver Involved In Tracy Morgan Crash Indicted For Aggravated Manslaughter

Published:

The Walmart truck driver involved in the crash that severely injured actor Tracy Morgan and killed his friend in June 2014 has been indicted and his fate will be determined by a grand jury.

Kevin Roper of Georgia was indicted on charges of first-degree aggravated manslaughter, vehicular homicide, and eight counts of aggravated assault. He could face 30 years in prison for the manslaughter charge. The assault charges are for Morgan and the three other limo occupants who were injured as a result of the crash.

An earlier NTSB investigation found that Roper had not slept in the 28 hours prior to the crash. It also found that Roper was speeding and had worked for 13 straight hours before the fatal crash.

Roper’s lawyer recently tried to have the case thrown out because he said that the publicity it generated made it impossible for his client to have a fair trial. The motion was rejected.
