Truck Shooting On Akron Highway: A Disturbing National Trend?

Another truck driver faced gunfire on the highway this week in Akron, Ohio, leaving many wondering if there is a connection to the 6 similar incidents that have taken place on highways around the country recently.

Flat Tire Caused By Bullet Holes

28-year-old truck driver Daniel Smith of Quality One Transport in Ravenna was heading north on SR 8 when he noticed he had a flat tire. When he pulled over, he noticed that bullet holes in his trailer. Further investigation revealed his tire had been shot.

Police believe that these were stray bullets from an I-76 shooting of a 35-year-old motorist from an unknown SUV headed in the same direction. The motorist was struck in the leg by a bullet. It appears that the motorist was targeted, but he says that he didn’t cut anyone off and doesn’t have any enemies.

Highway Shootings Increasing Nationwide

Since July 29, highway shootings have been reported in Akron, Cincinnati, North Carolina, Cleveland, Michigan, and Arizona, leaving many wondering if there is a connection.
