Truck Thieves Throw Shrimp, Shoot At Police

A cargo theft turned wild and dangerous in Atlanta early this morning as suspects allegedly threw shrimp out of a truck and shot at police during a pursuit.

Shrimp Stolen From Sleeping Truck Driver

The incident began around 4 a.m. at a warehouse on Empire Road in southwest Atlanta. A truck driver hauling frozen shrimp was asleep outside of a food warehouse when three men cut off the lock on the trailer and began to load shrimp into a rental truck.

Cargo Thieves Throw Shrimp During Chase

A warehouse employee alerted police. When they arrived on the scene, two of the suspects jumped in the cab of the rental truck while the other suspect got into the back of the truck. During the police pursuit, the suspect in the back of the truck threw the shrimp into the road as the chase continued. He then jumped out of the truck during the pursuit and has not yet been found.

Chase Ends With Crash and Gunfire

Police chased the truck into Clayton County, where it overturned after crossing railroad tracks. One of the men ran from the crash site while the other stayed in the truck and began shooting at the police.

The shooter was eventually taken into custody while police continue the hunt for the other suspects.

No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
