Trucker Missing Since October 1 Found — Alive And Well

An Iowa truck driver who has been feared missing since October 1 was found alive and well in Sioux City today.

Missing Driver Never Picked Up Load

The family of 60-year-old Curt Kruger reported that he was driving a lavender 2007 Peterbilt and was en route to pick up a load at A & A in Brandon, South Dakota when they lost all when both he and his truck vanished on October 1. They say Kruger never picked up the load.

Desperate Family Takes Search Into Their Own Hands

Though it had been over a month since Kruger’s family heard from him, police said that he did not meet the criteria of a missing person because he was an adult and no foul play was suspected.

Kruger’s family turned to other resources, creating a “Find Curt Kruger” and sharing information with the Missing Truck Driver Alert Network.

Fellow Trucker Discovers Missing Driver At Truck Stop

Lyon County Sheriff Stewart Vander Stoep said that another truck driver heard about Kruger’s disappearance and searched a Sioux City truck stop. When the truck driver found a truck that matched the description of Kruger’s, police were dispatched to the scene. They confirmed that the truck’s occupant was indeed Curt Kruger and had him contact his family via cell phone.

Police are not sure why Kruger had not been in touch with his family for so long, but they were pleased that the search had a happy ending.

If you have a friend or family member who is a truck driver who has gone missing, the Missing Truck Driver Alert Network is an invaluable resource for helping to bring him or her home.
