Trucker Rescues Injured Bald Eagle

Published:

Eagles might be known for their great vision, but an injured bald eagle owes its life to the sharp eyes of trucker Mario Giorbano.

Giorbano was driving on State Route 17 in Sullivan County, New York when he spotted an injured American bald eagle in a ditch. The driver pulled over to try to help the bird, which he thought was stuck in the mud. When he realized that the bird was hurt, he called 911 and got in contact with the State Police.

A licensed wildlife rehabilitator came to collect the bird in a dog crate. The eagle was taken in for X-Rays and treatment if it needed it.

Troopers think that the eagle was feeding on a dead racoon when it was hit by a vehicle.
