Trucker Rescues Teen With Cancer From Burning Car

Published:

A teen who is being treated for cancer owes her life to a Missouri trucker who stopped to pull her from a burning car.

On December 10, Gary Pridemore who drives for Waller Trucking was passing through Higginsville when he saw a burning car on the side of the road. He and another motorist pulled over to offer assistance. When Pridemore got closer to the car, he could see that the windshield was on fire and there were sparks coming from underneath the car.

While the rest of the family was able to get out, a teenage girl undergoing cancer treatment was physically unable to escape. Pridemore and the other motorist worked together to get the girl out of the car.

They weren’t able to save the girl’s wheelchair or walker, but they did manage to get a bag of prescription medication out of the car.

The Missouri Highway Patrol can confirm the story, but the identity of the girl is unknown because a police report was not filed. The Highway Patrol is unsure why the car caught fire.
