Two Truckers Save Man And Dog From Burning Car

Published:

Two New Jersey truckers are being called heroes after working together to rescue a motorist and his dog from a burning car in Mount Laurel on Tuesday morning.

Ron Legault, 66, was travelling north on I-295 to take his husky, Riker, to be treated for a brain tumor when his car somehow caught fire.

Trucker Ken Lear spotted the smoking car and pulled his rig over, grabbed his fire extinguisher, and ran over to try to extinguish the blaze. Legault was able to escape from the car, but Riker was still trapped inside. Lear was able to brave the smoke and flames and help get the dog out of the car.

Another truck driver, Jeff Norwood, also stopped to help. Both drivers emptied their fire extinguishers but were unable to put the fire out.

Norwood then helped the shaken motorist call 911.

Firefighters soon arrived and extinguished the car.

Legault called the truckers who stopped to help “awesome.”
