Three people were hurt on Saturday afternoon when a chunk of ice reportedly fell off of an 18 wheeler and shattered the windshield of another vehicle, causing it to crash.
The incident took place on I-80 near North Platte, Nebraska. 18-year-old Kimberly Mangum, her father, and her 16-year-old brother were on a family trip to a college when the ice flew off of a truck and pierced their Honda Odyssey’s windshield, hitting Mangum and the front seat passenger. The vehicle travelled into the median and rolled several times before coming to rest upright.
Kimberly Mangum suffered severe facial injuries and was flown to a hospital.
Mangum’s brother and father were both treated for minor injuries and released from the hospital.
Police have not been able to locate the truck driver involved in the incident.
