The host of the popular reality series “American Trucker” is angered by the use of his image in a controversial Facebook meme.
Reality TV Trucker Objects To Use Of Image In Facebook Meme
Host Robb Mariani has worked hard to give the trucking industry a positive image during the two seasons that “American Trucker” aired on the Speed Channel, but says that he was “blindsided” by a recent Facebook meme.
The meme couples Mariani’s image with the caption, “You’re not a real trucker until you have hit a hitchhiker with your (expletive) bottle.”
Mariani Plans To Take Action
Mariani objects not only to the crass nature of the meme, but also questions whether the use of his image in this way could be slander.
The “American Trucker” TV host plans to meet with his lawyer to see what can be done to protect his image and to remove the negative meme from social media sites. Mariani also says that Facebook and other social media sites should police posts in order to prevent this kind of character defamation.
Mariani is currently at work on a new trucking TV series.
