ATA On Hurricane Matthew: No Load Is Worth Your Life

Chris Spear Named As New President And CEO Of ATA

As Hurricane Matthew threats to touch down on U.S. soil some time this evening, the American Trucking Association has issued a warning to drivers to use caution and avoid the areas where the Category Four hurricane is expected to hit.

Says ATA President Chris Spear, “As we all continue to track and monitor Hurricane Matthew, we encourage drivers – commercial and commuter alike – to make good travel decisions. There is no delivery or trip that is worth putting yourself or others in harm’s way.

Spear also encourages both drivers and the companies that they work for to pay attention to evacuation orders and to leave as early as possible if they are issued.

Spear pointed out that trucking will be a vital part of the recovery after the hurricane, delivering food, water, and medical supplies to the communities affected by the hurricane.
