The American Transportation Research Institute announced yesterday that it is working with the Mayo Clinic to improve the DOT physical exam process and needs feedback from truck drivers and motor carriers.
More specifically, the ATRI and the Mayo Clinic are looking for feedback on how the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners has had an impact on DOT physical exams.
The NRCME was implemented in 2014 and requires that medical professionals who are administering exams to truck drivers take a course and pass an exam before they can be listed in a registry of a approved examiners.
The Mayo Clinic investigators say that feedback from the trucking industry is essential for improving the DOT physical exam process: “We can help shape and improve the medical examination process if we can better understand how motor carriers, truck drivers and medical examiners address the changes resulting from the NRCME process.”
