A pileup involving multiple big rigs has closed down the westbound lanes of the New York State Thruway in Weedsport this morning.
The crash on I-90 west was reported around 9:15 a.m. New York State Troopers said that whiteout conditions led to a “massive” number of vehicles colliding. Police say at least 6 trucks and multiple passenger vehicles were involved.
Traffic is backed up for about 3 miles.
At least 3 people were hurt — one of them critically.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
At last report, troopers were diverting traffic at Exit 39 in Syracuse.
