A CalTrans worker was reportedly killed on the job when he was struck by a tanker truck in the southbound lanes of State Road 14 in Los Angeles County today.
The incident happened around 11:30 this morning on SR 14 at Red Rover Mine Road.
By the time that the California Highway Patrol arrived on the scene at 11:42 a.m. the worker had already died.
Initial reports indicate that the worker was walking along the shoulder of the road when the crash occurred.
The incident is still under investigation. It is unclear what caused the pedestrian strike.

The incident triggered a SigAlert and caused serious traffic backups as several southbound lanes were closed down.
