Convicted Felon Trucker Arrested For Gun Possession At Weigh Station

Trucker Pulls Gun During Argument Over Line Position At Costco Warehouse

Connecticut police arrested a truck driver at a weigh station in Greenwich for various weapons violations on Wednesday.

Routine Weigh Station Visit Ends In Driver’s Arrest

According to reports, 37 year old truck driver Carlos Carlos Echevarria arrived at the weigh station around 6:30 p.m. There, troopers stopped him for a credential check. Echevarria reportedly admitted to the troopers that he had a handgun in an unlocked compartment behind the driver’s seat.

When troopers checked the compartment, they discovered a loaded .40 caliber handgun with a high capacity magazine that could hold 12 rounds.

Upon further investigation, troopers discovered that Echevarria had a prior felony conviction. He also didn’t have a weapons permit for the state of Connecticut, troopers said.

Driver Faces Several Weapons Charges

In the end, Echevarria was charged with weapon in a motor vehicle, violation of the large magazine requirement, criminal possession of a pistol and possession of a pistol without a permit.

Echevarria’s bond was set at $25,000. He was unable to make bond and will appear before a judge tomorrow.
