DUI Charges For Trucker Who Crashed While Changing Pants At 63 MPH

Vermont police say that a truck driver will face DUI charges following a crash yesterday morning on I-89 that happened while he was changing his pants.

Police: Driver Rolled Truck While Standing on Two Front Seats

The crash happened in the northbound lanes of I-89 near Exit 11 around 9:30 a.m.

Sixty-two-year-old truck driver Allen Johnson Sr. was traveling at 63 m.p.h. when police say that “he stood up from his driver’s seat and was attempting to change his pants in the front cab. Johnson was standing up vertically between the two front cab seats while his truck was in motion.

The truck then reportedly left the road and rolled over on its side.

Johnson suffered minor injuries in the crash.

Man’s BAC Was Five Times The Legal Limit

Police performed a BAC test on Johnson and discovered that his blood alcohol levels were 0.209 percent — five times the legal limit for commercial drivers.

Johnson was charged with Driving Under the Influence while Operating a Commercial Motor Vehicle and Negligent Operation and will appear in court on November 22.
