A dump truck driver lost his life this morning when the raised bed hit a bridge and separated from the rest of the truck.
The accident happened just after 6 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-64 near Dawson, West Virginia. Brandon Lockhart, 36, was driving with the dump truck bed in the raised position when it struck a bridge.
The crash caused the truck to separate from the bed and then to overturn in the median.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
It is unclear why the dump bed was in the raised position. Police are still investigating the incident.
Lockhart drove for RDD Trucking Company.
