Employee Charged With Stealing Over $1 Million From Trucking Company

A New Jersey trucking company employee has been charged with stealing over $1 million by overbilling for trucking services and then pocketing the difference in his personal account.

Forty-eight year old Mike Karapiperis was arrested on Monday at his home and charged with second degree theft.

Karapiperis was an employee with Roadtex Transportation in Somerset in charge of coordinating costs for truck load deliveries with P&A Trucking.

According to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office, Karapiperis overbilled Roadtex for shipping services by P&A Trucking and would then have the extra money deposited directly into his personal bank account.

The Prosecutor’s Office says that they believe Karapiperis stole over $1 million between 2012 and 2015.

He was held on a $75,000 cash bail.
