Fire Closes Kentucky Rest Area

The rest area on I-65 in Hart County, Kentucky, is closed until further notice after an overnight fire caused major damage to the structure.

The fire was reported around 2 a.m. last night at the Southbound Rest Area near mile point 59/60. Police say that the fire did major damage to the main building that houses a restaurant.

Officials say that the rest area is closed until further notice. They also say that no one is allowed near the building.

No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.

The State Fire Marshall’s Office and the State Arson Investigator were dispatched to the scene to investigate, but police say that the cause of the fire is unknown.
