The FMCSA has issued an out of service order to a Texas truck driver after a post-crash investigation uncovered numerous violations.
Truck driver Steven Wayne Johnson was issued the out of service order following a crash on I-70 in Junction City, Kansas, on November 15. According to the FMCSA, Johnson’s truck crossed the median into oncoming traffic and crashed head-on with a pickup. Three people were killed in the crash.
A Kansas Highway Patrol officer took a blood sample from Johnson after the crash. That sample tested positive for PCP and marijuana.
In addition to the positive drug test results, investigators also found that Johnson had been on-duty and driving for 21 hours before the crash. When investigators delved into Johnson’s records-of-duty for the past six months, they found that 70 of 160 documents were missing.
The FMCSA says that Johnson may also face civil and criminal penalties for the violations that they uncovered.
