Veteran Trucker Creates Facebook Page To Help Drivers Deal With Depression

Published:

A veteran trucker has created a Facebook page called “Truckers for Truckers: fight against depression and suicide” as a resource to help drivers deal with the emotional difficulties of life on the road.

Veteran Driver Creates Facebook Page To Fight Trucker Suicide And Depression

The page was created by 22 year veteran driver Michael Suson in 2016. Suson says he was inspired to create the page because of the lack of mental health support systems out there for professional drivers.

Suson also said that he was driven to create the Facebook page because he knows other drivers who have taken their own lives.

The mission statement of the page reads, “This page was created for [the] support [of] truckers dealing with depression and thinking [of] suicide. We are trying reach out to all my fellow truck drivers that deal with the struggle everyday and show there [are] people willing to help in anyway they can. All we ask is make the call or a text; we will be here for you.

Admins Hope To Expand Page, Add Hotline

The page has over 3000 members as of today. Suson hopes to keep expanding the page and to eventually add a hotline that drivers can call to get direct support.

You can click here to access the Facebook page.
