Foul Play Suspected In Death Of Georgia Trucker

Published:

After confirming that a body found in Newton was that of a Georgia trucker who went missing, Mississippi police also confirmed yesterday that they suspect foul play.

Police Find Truck, Then Unidentified Body

The family of Tommy Lee Wilson III, 36, says that he has been missing since May 25. Police located Wilson’s truck at the Newton Junction Truck Stop off of I-20 last Wednesday, but were unable to locate him. One of the windows of his truck was broken out.

Police found a body on Monday night in a wooded area with grass chest high about 150 to 200 yards from Wilson’s truck. While they suspected the body was Wilson’s, it took them until Wednesday to confirm his identity through fingerprinting.

Police Say Foul Play May Be A Factor In Death Of Georgia Trucker

Authorities are still waiting on autopsy results to confirm the cause of death. Milledgeville Police Chief Dray Swicord says that Wilson’s truck was vandalized and that foul play is suspected.

Assistant Police Chief Bud May stated that investigators were unsure whether the window was broken from the inside or the outside.

Police are looking at surveillance video from the truck stop to try to learn more.

If you have any information about Wilson’s death, you can contact the Newton police department at (601) 683-2041.
