Freightliner To Lay Off Another 800 U.S. Workers

Published:

In response to declining truck sales, Freightliner has announced plans to lay off about 800 workers.

Freightliner says that as of June 24, 200 workers will be laid off from the Gastonia, North Carolina, facility.

On July 1, about 600 workers will be laid off at the Mount Holly facility in North Carolina.

The company will also lay off about 270 employees from the Santiago, Mexico, facility.

Freightliner officials say that they decided to cut jobs because of an expected 15% drop in truck sales. They also say that they hope that the layoffs are temporary.

These jobs cuts come in addition to the 1,250 layoffs made by Freightliner in February of this year.
