The Global Container Terminal in Jersey City has been shut down for the rest of the day after one person was injured and another killed when they were hit by a truck.
Tragedy Strikes At Global Container Terminal
The incident happened at 10:30 this morning. According to preliminary reports, two people were standing along side a line of trucks waiting to pick up containers when a truck moved, striking the pedestrians.
One Hurt And One Killed, Cause Of Accident Still Under Investigation
One person was pronounced dead at the scene while the other, a 58 year old man, was taken to the hospital with fractured ribs and a pelvic injury.
The incident is still under investigation.
The shutdown of the Global Container Terminal has caused massive truck backups.
Many early reports describe the two people who were struck as drivers, but this has not yet been confirmed.
